Questions about collection

If your question isn’t here, call our happy-to-help team on 020 3808 8692.

We can collect vehicles from across London and surrounding areas. We just need clear access for our recovery vehicle — home, work, somebody else’s house or a storage compound all work. The only place we cannot collect from is roadside or a service station, as we do not operate roadside recovery.

Yes, all of our collections are free as standard. The price you are quoted is the price you will receive, guaranteed, with no hidden costs.

Yes, we are an Authorised Treatment Facility, meaning we can collect vehicles of any size in any condition, from motorcycles to lorries.

No, we handle the collection process for you. Once you accept your quote, we’ll be in touch to arrange collection at a date and time that’s mutually convenient.

We aim to arrange collection as soon as possible after you accept your quote, often contacting you the same or following day. Depending on availability, collection can be anything from a few hours to a few days, but we always try to collect as soon as possible.

A member of the Scrapping A Car team with years of knowledge and expertise will collect your vehicle — no third-party transporters.

We operate all of our own recovery vehicles, so no third party will turn up. Collection is pre-arranged directly with you, and our driver will have your details to hand. If in doubt, call us.

We ask for your photo ID and a utility bill with proof of address. This is part of the checks we carry out in line with the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, to combat rogue traders.

No, the registered keeper or legal owner does not need to be present. We do require a person present with a signed note from the vehicle owner confirming they’ve been instructed to act on their behalf, along with photo ID and a recent utility bill.

We aim to arrange collection as soon as possible once you accept your quote, sometimes the same day. The exact timing can depend on factors like the vehicle’s condition, whether it has keys, and how accessible the location is.

If you need to change the date we’ve arranged, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.

We always try our best to collect within a set time period. As we often have multiple collections in a day, timing can occasionally shift due to unforeseen circumstances, but we’ll keep you up to date.

We work seven days a week, and always aim to collect at a time that’s mutually convenient. Let us know of any particular requirements and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.

Your car doesn’t need to be at your home address or on a public road, but it should be on stable ground our recovery vehicle can access. If the location is difficult to access, let us know beforehand so we can bring the right equipment.

In rare cases, unforeseen circumstances can cause delays. We’ll always try to contact you beforehand about any significant delay. If you haven’t heard from the driver, contact us and we’ll resolve it as soon as possible.

We don’t expect the car to be waxed and polished, but we’d appreciate it if personal items or rubbish were removed before collection, to keep the process quick and easy for everyone.
